The Diebold company has been involved in the manufacture of HSK Toolholders since 1987, with Hermann Diebold serving on the DIN HSK standardization committee. When this started Diebold manufactured the first test samples for the University of Aachen where the research project for HSK applications was conducted. In the following years HSK became a DIN standard and Diebold began production of HSK tools. HSK toolholders require a higher level of manufacturing accuracy compared to common steep taper toolholders. Tolerances between taper and face of the hollow shaft are less than 0.002 mm, therefore gauges and accessories of the highest quality are required. Diebold has designed several gauging systems, and are now in possession of the most accurate computerized gauging systems. HSK tools are often used for high speed operations and balancing the toolholders is absolutely necessary. Diebold works with balancing equipment of the highest standard and has developed clamping units and balancing adaptors to obtain the best results in balancing HSK tools.
