Flywheel Ring Gear:
The flywheel ring gear is attached to the outer edge of the flywheel. It serves as the interface for the starter motor, allowing the engine to be cranked and started. The ring gear is typically made of a durable material to withstand the repeated engagement and disengagement during the starting process.
The primary function of the ring gear is to engage with the starter motor’s pinion gear. When the starter engages, it meshes with the ring gear, turning the flywheel and thereby cranking the engine which allowing the engine to start.
Flywheel:
The flywheel is an important mechanical component used to store rotational energy, allowing for smoother operation by maintaining consistent momentum. This energy storage helps to mitigate the fluctuations in power output from the engine.
Flywheels are typically made from materials that can withstand high stress load, such as cast iron or steel. The increased mass allows for greater energy storage capacity. The shape of the flywheel is circular in shape, and it is mounted on the engine's crankshaft.
Flywheel Housing:
The flywheel housing is an integral part of the engine assembly. The main purpose is to protect the flywheel and other components from dirt, debris, and mechanical damage. It helps as a mounting point for the transmission and other drivetrain components.
The flywheel housing is madeof cast iron and aluminium alloy materials. The flywheel housing must be durable to enhance overall vehicle performance.
Flywheel shim:
This flywheel shim is used for compensating the height once the clutch pressure plate over skimming limit exceeds.
Flywheel Assembly is available in various sizes based on the vehicle configuration and clutch types and diameter.
