Conventional Sealed-BeamHeadlamps:

A sealed-beam headlamp is a one-piece, replaceable unit containing a tungsten filament, a reflector, a lens, and connecting terminals.The position of the filament in frontof the reflector determines whether the filamentwill cast a high or a low beam. The glass lens isdesigned to spread this beam in a specific way. All high beamsare spread symmetrically through beams are spread.

Halogen Sealed-Beam Headlamps:

This Head bulb illumination comes from passing currentthrough a filament in a pressure-filled halogencapsule, instead of through a filament in a conventional evacuated sealed-beam bulb. Halogen lampsprovide brighter, whiter light than conventionalheadlamps.

Service and adjustment procedures are the samefor halogen sealed-beam lamps as they are for conventional sealed-beams.Halogenlamps are manufactured of glass or plastic. Glasslamps carry an “H” prefix; plastic lamps have an“HP” prefix.

Composite Headlamps:

Composite head lamp design uses a replaceable halogen headlamp bulb that fits into a socket at the rear of thereflector.The housing can be designed to fix a single bulb ordual bulbs.

High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Lamps:

HID is the latest development and technology based lamp. This HID lamps produce light in both ultraviolet and visible wave-lengths, causing highway signs and other reflective materials to glow. These lamps do not rely on a glowing element for light. Instead the HID lamp contains a pair of electrodes, similar to spark plug electrodes surrounded by a gas.

The primary function of headlights is to provide illumination for the driver while operating the vehicle. This illumination allows the driver to safely navigate roadways and arrive at their destination.
